Hi Prerna! :) Well I do keep dropping in, every now and then... I was myself unsure if anyone else does or not...
I am doing fine, just missing home chandigarh UIET hostel INDIA too much :) :(
Life in Germany is good as far as infrastructure and everything is concerned, but I haven't really met any friendly europeans with whom I would share myself ..
Maybe that's why they say College life is the best years in your life!
How are you doing Prerna? How is everyone else doing?
Hi Mayank! I think we are the only ones coming here! I don't know why but this reminded me of a story from our English book in school.. when a man is cut off from the entire world, except a few people due to global warming, etc. Anyway, thats stupid me! I am doing alright, missing all those things just like you.. sigh! It will soon be a year since I have been to India! Well yeah life is fine here.. I have some good friends, but you are right.. I don't think we can find the same kind of friends we had in college.. I think the main reason for this would be that we all have lost the innocence of our childhood and candidness of our teenage, and are scared to open up to people.. This results in guarded people who are unable to befriend others easily! And even when we do, we are still not confident about those friendships! Anyway, zada philosophy ho gai!! :P See you around! Lets keep the thread alive.. and lets see how long does it take for others to come here!! ;)
Hey Prers! :) Glad to see you replying and keeping the the thread alive! :)
The news updates - I heard our juniors rocked GATE this time around, and we have something like ranks 1,5,9,19,24,59 etc etc etc!! :) :) Awesome ranks people!!! :) And the last time I heard, these days everyone is out there, taking interviews and travelling! :) I saw all of our juniors getting way too senti on fb :P and that brought back fond memories!! :) :D
Also they FINALLY started giving out B.E. Degree certificates.. I can't be there for that, but I am glad it will be the last encounter with the Students' Section...!! The horrors they inflicted upon us!! Once I went to get my DMC, and Anil said "Shaam ko aana".. I went at 3, he said kal aana.. and our semester exams were going on!! I was like WTF!!! Dude! I am not here for you! YOU ARE HERE FOR US!!... Whatever..! I really miss college, but for sure I don't miss Anil and gang!!
Its May again, completing one year of being an engineer... although I feel like its been AGES since I was in UIET!! And yet, its baffling, I know, but it feels only like yesterday when we were coming in the morning for classes (I know I came in the afternoons, but still! :P), seeing everyone, just hanging around.. everybody asking everybody else for a bunk :D Woah! I better hold my horses here now, otherwise these memories are gonna sweep me off my feet :)
Anyways, Germany is cool, in the real sense of the word. These days its Summers (whatever that is supposed to mean), the temperature is hovering around 7 degree C. Yes, 07, and not 17 or 27 or 37!! And it IS Summer. It goes up to 14, when the sun is out, otherwise it rains perennially in Saarbrücken, where I am, and most of the times its cloudy, even if it is not raining. But whatever it be, after the winters, I am glad its 7 degree C. :P You sure don't want to know how it is like in winters here :D
Plus, I had an idea of starting up a blog together with whoever is interested, where we might post stuff regarding education abroad.. sort of where we, as students who've done their Bachelors in India and are now all over the globe, try to answer general questions regarding Higher Education and stuff... its just an initial idea, but would love to get it started... Don't think we have to really do a big job out of it. If all of us stick, then 1 page per person would do. I am ready to do the pages for Bioinformatics and Germany.
This solves 2 issues - 1.We provide a portal to everybody looking for first-hand information, and since we have gone through it ourselves, we can show everyone what the real deal is, unlike agents and universities bragging about everything. 2. I am bored of answering the same questions to people over and over again on emails :P Life would be so simpler if I could just send them a link to a page where they would have everything they'd need! :) [I guess I've really started to sound like a programmer..hehe]
Plus we can also keep a FAQs, some info about applying for Visa... whatever. I think all we need is an impetus, and then everything else begins to fall in place.
I, for sure, feel the need the for such a resource, especially for us Biotech people, where everything is just beginning to take shape. Always heard "BT ka bahut scope hai" :D never actually found what that meant!
And also people who are working now, like in the IT industry or somewhere can pool in their experiences and share how its been with them.
So if anybody reading this is interested then please drop a line here :) Sorry for the really long post! :P
